Building Panora: Your recordings are not our dataset

Two questions sit behind every sensitive recording: while Panora has it, what is
being done with it, and when you delete it, what actually happens? Here are the
answers, and we read our own code before writing them.

The most private recording never leaves your phone

On the on-device path, your audio is transcribed on your phone and nothing about
that recording is uploaded to Panora. There is no copy on our servers, because
none was made. You send us something only when you choose cloud processing for a recording.

What happens when you delete a recording

When you delete a recording, Panora removes it from the app's live state and,
when it was cloud-processed, clears the backend records tied to that recording —
the stored recording, its transcript and summary, the encrypted audio, and the
keys that went with it. We keep only the operational markers needed to prevent
stale records from coming back.

If you would rather start clean, Settings has an option to erase your recordings
from both your phone and our servers in one step.

A practical note on device backups

Device backups are controlled by your phone settings, not by Panora. If you back
up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, older backups may contain older app
data. Panora can delete what it controls, but your device backup policy is
separate.

What we never do with your recordings

We do not sell your recordings, use them for advertising, or train models on
them. Panora is a tool you pay for, not a dataset we quietly monetize.

If you explicitly send a recording to an outside AI provider, that provider's
policy applies to that request. That is why those actions are opt-in.

In short

What we can say today, and back up in code, is simpler: local recordings stay
local, cloud recordings can be deleted from Panora's live systems, and we do not
turn recordings into an advertising or training dataset. Your recordings are
yours.
